Get to know our newest addition to Dye Culik PC, Attorney Bradley Harrah.
Can you give me a little background on where you grew up, went to school, and majored in?
I was born and grew up in Adrian, Michigan, a small rural town about an hour south of Detroit. For my undergraduate studies, I attended Siena Heights University, a liberal arts university that emphasized a well-rounded education, where I double-majored in Business Administration and Political Science. Upon graduating in 2018, I attended Michigan State University (Go Green!), where I focused my studies on business and corporate law. In my final year of law school, I was the President of the Business & Securities Law Institute, a student organization committed to promoting the areas of business and securities law.
What are some of your passions (hobbies & interests)?
I am a sports fanatic. Although they are not the best, I am a die-hard fan of all the Detroit sports teams. I also really enjoy golfing and trying out new breweries with my wife and two dogs.
Who is the most influential person in your life?
Without question, my parents. My mom instilled in me compassion and empathy, and my dad instilled in me competitiveness and passion for everything I do.
What do you value most and why?
I have learned over the years to value other people’s perspectives. I am always amazed at how another person, because of their different background and experiences, can view something entirely differently than me. There could not be a more valuable asset in my eyes.
What inspires you to work in this industry?
In my last year of undergrad, I had the opportunity to work at a non-profit economic development agency, providing business advice to help entrepreneurs start their businesses. I quickly learned that for these entrepreneurs, their business was much more than a business, but their passion and livelihoods. That experience has stuck with me ever since, energizing me to work hard every day for our business clients.
What is your proudest achievement outside of your career?
Coming from a really small high school, my proudest achievement is earning a scholarship to play football at the college level. I was undersized and not the strongest, but I knew the game well and always played passionately. I worked hard and was able to get on the field by my sophomore year.
What’s something on your “bucket list”?
I am about three-quarters Irish, so the number one thing on my bucket list is traveling to Ireland.
Best piece of business advice?
Never sign a contract before reading it in detail; better yet, have an attorney review it first.
