Our firm is excited to expand and add outstanding legal talent to our team. Meet Attorney William Richter, the newest addition to Dye Culik.
Can you give me a little background on where you grew up, went to school, and majored in?
I was born and raised in Fairfax, Virginia, before moving to South Carolina to pursue my undergraduate degree. I attended the University of South Carolina, where I majored in Finance. I enrolled at Charleston School of Law the following summer to earn my law degree. During law school, I had the privilege of serving as treasurer for the Student Bar Association.
What are some of your passions (hobbies & interests)?
I have many interests, but I will narrow them down to history, sports, and the law. I enjoy traveling with my wife, spending time with friends, golfing, and, of course, watching the Gamecocks.

Who is the most influential person in your life?
My parents. I am incredibly blessed to have them, and their influence keeps me motivated to continue to work hard and make them proud.
What do you value most and why?
Helping others and building strong client relationships are among the key reasons I am drawn to the legal profession. I want to make a difference in people’s lives, and that is at the heart of what we do.
I recognize that people come from different backgrounds and may face challenges that aren’t always visible. It is essential to approach each person with understanding and see them for who they indeed are.
What inspires you to work in this industry?
My time in business school at the University of South Carolina increased my interest in business and business law. Then, in law school, I took many business law classes that further grew my interest and passion for this area of law. I am genuinely interested in our firm's work and in ensuring my clients have a great experience.
What is your proudest achievement outside of your career?
My proudest achievement is getting married to Caroline. We married in 2024 and have really enjoyed our life together in Charlotte.
What’s something on your “bucket list”?
The World Cup is coming to the U.S. next year, and I would love to go to a match. I grew up playing soccer and have always enjoyed watching the World Cup on television.
